Spring has officially arrived here in Haliburton, Ontario, which means it’s nearly time to trade or sleds and ice skates for ATVs and hiking boots! Sandy Lane Resort rests on peaceful Halls Lake in the beautiful, secluded Algonquin Highlands. Families, couples, and groups choose us because of our tranquil wilderness locale, our seemingly endless array of adventure possibilities, and, of course, our five-star service. Regardless of what kind of springtime getaway you’re looking for, you’ll discover an undeniably beautiful, serene, and adventurous slice of Central Ontario here at Sandy Lane Resort. We hope that you enjoy these three hand-selected things to do in Ontario during your springtime vacation.
Haliburton Highlands Golf
There are three outstanding golf courses within 25 minutes of our Central Ontario cottages, making the choice somewhat difficult. Here’s a quick rundown of the options:
- Lakeside Golf Club – Lakeside’s nine holes provide guests with a breezy yet scenic escape. Perfect for beginners or those just looking for a quick nine, Lakeside has some of the best hillside vistas, and it’s the closest golf course to Sandy Lane Resort.
- Beaverbrook Golf Course – Beaverbrook, located in nearby Minden, is another nine-hole gem that will be celebrating 70 years this summer. Unlike most area golf courses, Beaverbrook shares acreage with two water sources: Gull River and Beaver Creek.
- Blairhampton Golf Course – Blairhampton is unquestionably the best 18-hole golf course in the area. Pristine, scenic, and affordable courses like Blairhampton is why golf is considered one of the top things to do in Ontario.
Lakeside Mountain Biking
One of the many perks of staying at Sandy Lane Resort is our fleet of complimentary mountain bike rentals. As always, you’re encouraged to bring along your own trusty bicycle for a full day’s worth of lakeside and backcountry exploration. The Algonquin Highlands are a vast, tranquil landscape with lush forestry, quiet spaces, and jaw-dropping wildlife. Most of the backroads that surround Halls Lake rarely see traffic, so feel free to “fuel” up, grab a map, and hit the open road this spring. Countless lake roads meander past Halls Lake, Little Hawk Lake, Boshkung Lake, and far beyond!
