Halls Lake, one of the largest lakes in the Algonquin Highlands District, spans over 1,300 acres and reaches a maximum depth of 264 feet, making it a prime destination for anglers year-round. With various species to catch depending on the season, it's the perfect spot for both beginners and seasoned fishing enthusiasts. The most popular types of fish in Halls Lake are catfish, bass, panfish, walleye, trout, and white perch.

As a lakefront resort, Sandy Lane Resort welcomes anglers from all over, offering easy access to this incredible fishing paradise. We provide boats for all guests, so all you need to bring is your fishing rod and bait. Whether you're casting your line for the first time or you're a pro, you're sure to reel in an unforgettable experience.

Base Camp 35 is an Outdoor Adventure Company offering unforgettable action packed weekends!

The Base Camp 35 vision started in the year 2000 when Lorne Foisy enrolled in the 10 month Leadership Development Program at Medeba Adventure Learning Center in the Haliburton Highlands. Focusing on Outdoor Adventure Programming, Lorne quickly developed a passion for the vertical world of rock and ice climbing. After the successful completion of the program, he pursued his dreams of the mountains taking up residence in the Canadian Rockies. Becoming an ACMG certified top rope climbing instructor, he began instructing for the Tim Horton Children’s Ranch. Moving back to Haliburton in 2016, Lorne desires to spread his passion for climbing with others. If you are signing up for a climbing adventure, you are sure to have a great experience!

WHAT ARE WE?

Base Camp 35 is an adventure based business that gives you an opportunity to safely experience adventure activities that you would not normally get the chance to do. We offer Ice Climbing in the winter seasons and Rock Climbing and Rappelling adventures in the summer.

Base camp operates within the HWY 35 corridor in the Algonquin Highlands. We have multiple locations we use for climbing based on the groups level of experience and desired adventure!

Haliburton Forest has lots of things to do including visiting the wolf center or taking a walk in the clouds on the canopy tour.

The canopy tour overlooking the forest at Haliburton Forest (http://www.haliburtonforest.com/activities/canopy-tour) reservations are a must for the view of a lifetime.

Haliburton Forest has the Wolf Centre where people can learn about the master of our forests. View the wolves from the observation room and watch them bask in the sun.

A round of golf can always be worked into the holiday at Blairhampton Golf Course (www.blairhamptongolf.com), which has the best eighteen holes around as well as the prettiest driving range I have ever seen.

As a duffer I enjoy Lakeside Golf (www.lakesidegolf.ca), where the nine holes is enough for me and the restaurant patio overlooking the lake is my reward. Beaverbrook Golf Course (www.beaverbrookgolfcourse.com), in the town of Minden is a more challenging nine-hole course that follows the Gull River that meanders through the center of town. The true meaning of the word “highlands” will be discovered at the Haliburton Golf Course (www.haliburtongolf.com). The oldest shortest, but challenging nine holes of up and down terrain, that defines the ruggness of the Highlands, and topped off with an awesome view of Lake Kashagawigamog.

If you’re interested in something for the kid’s to do, take the family to Carnarvon Family Golf and Batting Cages (www.carnarvonfamilygolf.com). They have redone the mini-put course added a par three course and have a beautiful driving range for you to practice your driving skills.

There are many things to do in the nearby towns of Minden, Haliburton, Kinmount and Dorset.

Bev and I like to visit the town of Dorset every now and them for it is a cute town, right on the waters of Lake of Bays. Bev loves to shop and into Robinson’s General store she goes. The store has everything from food to clothing to gifts to hardware items. A good old style General Store.

I like to go and check on the restoration of the bigwin steamship (www.bigwinsteamboat.com).

The towns of Minden and Haliburton have all the essentials of life, food and a hospital. Just like the city. If you are a connoisseur of ice cream go to Kawartha Dairy (www.kawarthadairy.com) in the town of Minden for the best tasting and very generous portions, a meal unto itself.

The town of Kinmount that hardly ever changes has the most unique theatre going for it, the Highlands Cinemas (www.highlandscinemas.com) It is a museum of movies for the movie buff. Can’t beat it anywhere, it has character, first off park amongst the trees, no asphalt here, the theatre is in a house, five screens, memorabilia galore and first run movies.
